Our lives are shaped up by needs and desires. We all of have these things in our lives. Both needs and desires matter to God.
One definition for the word need is something a person must have or something that is needed in order to live or succeed or be happy.
Some of the needs we have in our lives are:
The Need of being Loved
The Need of being Accepted
The Need of Food
The Need of Money
The Need of Transportation
The Need of Shelter
The Need of Clothes
All of the following things are necessary to sustain our lives here on earth. God created us in Him and made us beings who need to be loved and accepted.
Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will meet all of your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
God will give us all of our needs. That’s right ALL of our needs.
God is our friend who sticks closer to us than a brother. Proverbs 17:17 paraphrase
God gives his complete love through Him. The Lord also gives us people who will help us become closer to Christ because of the way God wired us to live in community.
God gives us a roof over our heads.
The financial needs for the situation we are in right now.
Our vehicles we have or people who can drive us around is God meeting a need in our lives.
We have clothes on our back even if it’s the clothes we don’t want we are blessed by God!
Another thing in our lives God wants to give to us is our desires.
A desire is to long or hope for something.
God knows our desires. He placed desires on our heart for a reason.
One of the desires God has placed on my heart is for the Lord to bring me a “ministry partner” this would be code for a future wife. Most young adults who are between 21-35 years old want to be married someday and have a family.
I’ve had this image of a “ministry partner” since I was sixteen years old.
This is a Godly desire he has put in my heart and one day the Lord will allow this to happen in His timing.
The Lord wants us to calibrate our hearts to His desires for us. The Lord’s desires for our lives is number one before our desires.
Romans 8:5 says, “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.”
The Lord wants His desires to be on the front of our minds in all we do all the time.
Would you be willing to surrender a desire to be married for showing God’s Love to the Unloved in America or somewhere in the world?
Would you be willing to pick up God’s Desire and let go of your desires to do God’s will for your life?
If not ask God to recalibrate your compass daily to be pointing North towards God’s desires for your heart and life. Seek Him and He will make your compass straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
