I have been in Honduras for about a week now and to be honest with everyone I wrote this country off because I didn't know anything about Honduras. Turns out I am wrong for writing this country off because of my ignorance. God never writes anyone off for having access for accepting His free gift of eternal life! Turns out some of the people I have met in Honduras so far are some of the most faithful people I have met while on the Race!
God sent my BTX team out to the mountains of Honduras where we live in an adobe house made out of mud bricks and dirt. No Internet, no filtered water, no electricity, no air conditioning, and no pleasures of having things in the States. This has been an eye opening experience for me because we are so spoiled back in the States with Internet at our fingertips, fast food restaurants, Starbucks, and cars to take us anywhere we wanna go at anytime. We are so spoiled and I think this is how Satan gets us in the States of how to not have strong faith in God is to allow us to become distracted with the pleasures of this world.
The people here in Honduras have nothing compared to what we have in the States but what they do have is child-like faith in God. In the mornings we go out into the community and we go praying for people in the community. The people in their simple living conditions where the only way of providing for their families is selling corn and potatoes. This provides about 2,000 Lemperas a month which is around $100 US Dollars. This does not stop the people of this mountain community to go to three weekly services a week and sometimes walk an hour to each way to worship God boldly and to do great things in their lives!!
"Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14 NIV
The children came to Jesus with great faith as the people I have met so far in Honduras! We need to block out distractions and have child-like faith in Jesus so we can be all we can be for His Glory!
