If you are anything like me, you are always going a million miles a minute and never stopping to rest with IVS of coffee attached to us 24/7. We think to ourselves, there is not enough time in the day to rest or I feel fine, being tired is normal. However, at some point we will run ourselves down; emotionally, physically and spiritually!
A few weeks ago my campus church had our annual fall retreat and it is there where I learned how important rest is in our walks with the Lord. God wants us and even demands us to rest in him! He never wants us to experience burnout and if you have ever experienced burnout, you know it is not a place where you want to go back. The good news is we never have to experience burnout. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus said, ” Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yolk upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yolk is easy and my burden is light”. He wants us to lay everything down at His feet and he will take care of it. God rested on the 7th day and that right there is him explaining to us that we need rest as well. He cares too much about us to let us run dry and burnout- He never ever wants that because HE LOVES EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU!
I know it may be hard to take time to rest but I have currently learned how beneficial it is to our walks with the Lord and those around us. We cannot shine the light of Jesus, when we can barely keep our eyes open and that is no way to live! We need to rest so we can display the Joy and love of the father to the world. Take just 20 mins a day to pray or relax, He will give you the time you need to get things done! In this season of my senior year and support raising for the race, I have learned how quickly burnout can occur and I am so thankful for this past weekend that has forced me to rest.
A few prayer requests at the moment;
1. Please pray for my support raising and pray about whether you want to join my team by financially giving.
2. That I can continue to grow and rest in the Lord as he prepares me for this journey.
Please share with your friends and family and if you want to talk more about my journey feel free to email me as I would love to talk to you!
