Two weeks down of ministry one more to go, and then we head home. This month my team and I have been
teaching English to the college students.
We work five days a week, and we have two teams going in the morning and
the afternoon. My team goes in the afternoon from 2:30-5:30. Our tuk tuk driver
is the best and we always look forward to having him drive us there. We have
about 10-15 students in class each day and they’re so smart, and so much fun to spend time with.

We have
been teaching them worship songs, like “Beautiful” by Phil Wickham, “So Good to
Me” by Matt Tilman, “He loves us” by Kim Walker and “Trading my Sorrows.” Some
afternoons we read a Bible story and have them summarize, we define the words
and talk about just how awesome God is!!!!

We also work on pronunciation,
verbs, and sentence structure and I’ve learned I’m not the best teacher to ever hit these streets. I try but I’m not that gifted to be honest, but we still have fun. My
team is Bethany, Heather, Ralph and Tres, and we work really well together. The guys teach the beginners class, and
the girls and I teach the more advanced.
I get the privilege of teaching the students slang every once and awhile
and I absolutely love it. I think
they think I’m crazy, but it’s a good thing because I make them laugh. They
very quickly incorporated the slang I taught them. We have one week left and we’re planning on spending time
with the students during their break time during the week. These students have been welcoming and
grateful to have us teach them. Oh, also my team Redeemed is planning a morning
to go see the Killing Fields and Prison, which is going to be a very sobering
visit. Then Sunday, we get ready
to leave Cambodia but not before we see Angkor Wat.
We’re heading to meet the rest of our squad for an Angkor Wat tour for
a day and then we head to final debrief in Hua Hin, Thailand. We’re traveling
by bus and I think our bus ride will be 17-20 hours cut in half because we’re
going to Angkor Wt on the way to Thailand. Keep praying for us as we wrap up
our last week of ministry on the race, and that we stay motivated and focused
in our relationship with God, each other and with the students. Pray that our final debrief goes really
well, we stay safe and get our fill of each other so that saying goodbye isn’t
so heartbreaking.
