Okay, so I wrote this in like 3 minutes and it’s not one of my most eloquent works, but it’s fun and I’m fun so it’s perfect. God knows I love hammocks so He gave me a hammock and a balcony to hang it on. If you know how crazy I am this will be funny, if not, then it’s probably just weird. Either way, enjoy!

An Ode to My Hammock

I love you Miss Hammock, I think I’ll call
you Goldie, yeah that seems fitting since you are that color. I bought you that
way with royalty in mind. When I lay down, I think I’m a princess, without
maybe the servants and royal attendants. I imagine I’m by a beautiful beach. I
forget that I’m resting on you, and I’m actually on a balcony in sweltering
Cambodia. It’s okay because during the day, I get a tan while reading about the
Big Man. At night you provide a measure of comfort as I lay just looking up at
the sky. There are no stars, because it’s a cloudy night, but there’s a breeze
and that’s alright.

I love you Miss Hammock, because you help me
to rest. I rest from my working and I rest in my heart. I feel God’s love for
me when I can rest, and you help me do that. I think I’ll take you everywhere
with me, like back to L.A., and to Spain. Let’s just hope I can learn how to
tie you up so I don’t fall without the help of Heather Reed.

You’ve been good to me Miss Hammock, even
though our relationship is one sided. I think you should know that you’re one
my favorite things and I thank God for you.

 The End!
