Less than five months left 'till I leave on the mission field. I am filled with so much anticipation! So much excitement! I'm certain that the next eleven months will be ones in which I along with my team will see the Lord's faithfulness.
Speaking of faithfulness…allow me to share a bit of my previous missions trip to Haiti. I went to this small island not knowing exactly what to expect. Knew only one person on the trip and meet the rest of our team upon arriving at the airport. As a matter of fact, I knew very little other than I was going out of obedience to the Lord. He said, "whom shall I send?" I replied, "Here I am, send me". To some it might sound crazy, but to me it's living my life for His honor…for His glory…to make His name and renown across this island.
I recall two young men stopping our group as we made our way around their tent city. We walked, as to what may have seemed aimlessly to others, prayerfully seeking the Lord for direction as to where to go. He answered quickly and at a perfect timing.
According to our translator, these two men that we were passiong by asked if we could tell them a story. I procedded to share the best story ever told in all human kind: the birth, death, and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. As I was reaching the end of the best story ever told I turned around to look at the rest of my group. To my surprise not only had these two men heard the story but many others also heard it. Close to seventeen heard how deep the Father's love for us and them is! Not only did they hear the best story ever told but made a decision to make Christ their Savior!
So when I'm asked why am I leaving the comfort of my home, a job with a favorable salary, and my family for a year…I simply say to share the best story ever told to human kind. A story that brings hope and life to those who will lend their ear to, a story that is capable to change a life, and a story that contiues to be written as others confess our God their God.
Please continue to journey with me as I blog my experiences these next eleven months beginning this July. Also please prayerfully consider financially supporting me. I will continue to post prayer requests, my expereinces, and information about each country as I go.
His,
Betty
