At training camp I remember thinking that the worst thing that could happen would be to be put on an all girls team. Not because I disliked any of the girls, which I didn't. In fact, I adore every single one of them. However, I assumed that being on an exclusively female group would mean drama, chaos, and confrontation… all of these being things that i try my best to avoid. Luckily for me that didn't happen. I was happy with my co-ed team and was ready to stay with GPS for the remainder of the race. But obviously God had a different plan….because I am now on an all girls team.
This past month month I read one of the best books that I've ever read…and if you are on the race then you already know that I am going to say the words "Cold Tangerines" The book is full of beautiful and inpsiring short stories and essays and I feel as though this one perfectly captures what I am feeling and thinking right now.
Life sneaks up on us every once in a while and gives us something we didn't even know we wanted, and lights within us a life we didn't even know existed.
Being on team GPS these past four months has been one of the greatest blessings of my life and I am so honored for that opportunity. Brent, Jordan, Marianne, Alex, Amanda, and Kelli are more than friends, they are family. Each day was full of laughter and joy and as Jordan would say, "they can break up team GPS….but they can never break up the dream team." I love GPS with everything that is within me and I would not have wanted to share the first few months of my race with anyone else. Since starting the race I have changed in so many ways. I am more bold, more confident, and so much more willing to try new things and so many of these changes are because of the love and support of GPS.
However, right now i am sitting in the attic of a beautiful church in Ruse, Bulgaria with my all female team in a state of near perfection. Life is so beautiful and God is beyond good. I can't wait to be vulnerable and open with these women and I know already that God has some pretty big things planned this month. So here is to new beginnings. To Amanda, Emma, Carina, Fretah, and Alex… and to this amazing journey that God has placed before us.
