I am afraid.
I am afraid, terrified actually of leaving everything of comfort for 11 months.
I am afraid that I will not meet my fundraising goals.
I am afraid that I will let you down.
I am afraid that I won’t want to come back to the US.
I am afraid I will shut down.
I am afraid I won’t be good enough.
I am afraid that people will think I am insane for making this commitment.
I am afraid of what people will think of me.
I am afraid to be thousands of miles from my family.
I am afraid to carry everything on my back for 11 months.
I am afraid I will not understand different cultures.
I am afraid I won’t know what to say.
I am afraid I won’t have the answers.
I am afraid that I will be taken. #taken5
I am positive that everyone has fears. Fears of the unknown. Fears of the known. Fears of expectations. Everyone wants something from life; typically these things differ from me to you. Although these fears 9/10 are a misuse of imagination. I know that I have the skills, resources, and intelligence to succeed in anything that I do. The only thing that would hold me back is fear. I am sure some of my fears may become a reality over the 11 months I am serving.
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” -Psalm 56:3
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand” -Isaiah 41:10
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” -2 Corinthians 12:9
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:6-7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” -2 Timothy 1:7
“Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid” -John 14:27
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:9

Yes I am afraid. But all of these fears are growing me, forming me into what God has called me for. Yeah, this journey is insane. I am so thrilled that I have been able to express my faith in this kind of platform. I know God will provide for all of my needs.
