Written 4/4/11
My team arrived in Bangkok April 1st, with the
rest of my squad.
I can’t believe that we have only 2 more months left. This
is month 10!  We go to Malaysia for month 11, then back to the states.
My how these months are flying by.
I felt called on the race because of the issue of human
trafficking, and I wanted to see it first hand. I was really looking forward to
Thailand being the country that exposed it to me.
But God had other plans.
I was exposed to the sex trade in the Philippines, and was
able to see sweet Paris redeemed from that life.
While in Bangkok, some of us girls took a ride to the red
light district. We saw everything that I would expect to see. The videos and
pics of the bar girls, and strippers was accurate… and the girls were
everywhere.
As I walked down the street, with the neon lights flaring,
and the music pumping, my heart was breaking, but my head was calculating…
Calculating ways to combat this monster.
I thought I would be working with the red light girls this
month, a form of intervention. But instead God has called me to work with the
prevention end of the sex trade.
This month the guys and girls are separated, and I am with
10 other girls from my squad. They are an awesome bunch of girls, and I’m
excited to work with them.
We are working at an orphanage called Remember Nhu. Remember
Nhu’s goal is to take in children who are at risk of entering the sex trade.
They give the girls, love, education, support, shelter, and food. This keeps
the children out of the streets, and out of the hands of the brothel owners and
pimps.
I have been on the fundraising end of the fight against the
sex trade, I was privileged to be a part of the intervention, and now I’m
learning about the prevention.
I want to learn as much as I can about how to run a safe,
loving, and efficient home.
As the race is coming to a close, my vision and passion to
fight against the sex trade has only gotten stronger. And God has given me
vision of some sorts, now I’m just trusting and waiting on Him to hook up the
details.
Check out their website… it’s a beautiful story.
