Ready for a new workout plan?

Then I recommend coming to Ireland and helping out Kathy for a week…

The new Kathy workout is innovative and wholistic.. working out not just your physical body, but your spiritual body as well..

Here’s how it works:

It starts off with a simple question Kathy asks “Would you like to come on a bread run with me?”. Your simple reply is “Yes”.

You pull up to the Superquinn market at about a quarter to 8. Take possession of two shopping carts (which are called trolleys here in Ireland), then push them into the bread/pastry section.

Kathy walks over to Faye and says can we start packing yet? And Faye responds not yet, but there are bags of bread inside the kitchen.

You think in your head.. this will be a cinch… no sweat off your back…

Then you walk to where the bags are and see about 15 30gallon white trash bags full of bread..(and i never knew this.. but bread is NOT light.. it is pretty stinkin heavy)

As you bend from your knees to lift the first bag, you’re working out your legs and thighs and buttox…then as you lift the 5-10lb bag your working out your biceps shoulders and core (because you have to make sure you’re balanced and don’t topple over from the weight).. and you do that about 14 more times…and you have lifted about 120 lbs… not to mention having to lift them all again to shove them inside a not big enough, but somehow it all fits, minivan…so that’s now about 240lbs..

Are we done yet? NOPE.. because now it’s time to bag the leftover breads and pastries that no customers bought that day… So there you are creating the other 5  8lb bags. Now what part of the body does this work out? Simple answer… the very weak humility muscle inside the heart..

(I’m not sure how comfortable I would be in America going to a supermarket and bagging leftover bread and pastries while others are looking on… I felt homeless…i felt embarrassed, ashamed… then my pride started talking and said “Well if anyone asks you, just tell them you’re doing this for people who need it, the gypsies, the ones who don’t have anything.. you don’t need this. you’re just doing a good deed.”

Then right after that.. God’s Spirit checked me and said “You are one of the them.. because Jesus was, and that’s where my heart is.” I was immediately humbled. And asked God to forgive my “better than them” mindset….)

So after the car is JAM PACKED with 30 30 gallon bags of breads and pastries…more spirtiual workout begins as you drive to the travelers (gypsies), and give them bread for the week ahead. And then you talk to them about the difference that Jesus has made in your life. And you have their thirsty for truth, and hungry for answers, ears listening.

Your faith muscle gets built up, Your love muscle gets built up…

This is all part of the Kathy workout plan… You may not be able to ever meet Kathy personally, or come to Ireland at the moment.. but you can start a workout plan, much like hers, wherever you are.

We spend so much time working out our bodies, which is super important…. but our bodies only last for what? about 95 years the most… How much of a spiritual workout are you getting? Our souls are what last for all eternity.. in one of two places… Don’t forfeit working out the matters of your heart and soul….

â€œIf any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me.  If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” – Jesus (Matthew 16:24-26 NLT)
