Last month while in the Philippines my team and I were assigned to do Unsung Heroes. Once we arrived in the Philippines we decided to stay at a hostel in Makate near Metro Manila. I was in charge of being the team leader for the month and creating somewhat of a schedule and help keep things organized. As many of you know I love to travel, meet new people and hear their stories, so I was thrilled for having the opportunity to do Unsung again. My mom knew a woman in Chinatown who was a missionary from her church and I reached out to her to see if she was interested in partnering with AIM and hosting a future race team. She was very interested and we set up a time to meet. Her name is Kristin Tan and she works for an organization called Philippine Challenge.
Philippine Challenge has many different avenues that racers could be apart of. They teach Chinese-speaking young people and adults English. They also have an English corner outreach ministry that teaches the Chinese people a bible story that is relatable to them, sing some songs, and an activity for them to apply this lesson to their daily lives. Their is also a need for tutoring of the youth in their school work as well as after school activities.
When a few of my teammates and I went to meet Kristi we had quite an adventure. We got lost at the train station and ended up being late. Kristi welcomed us with us with open arms and took us to an authentic Chinese dinner. We then went to the English corner outreach ministry. We got to meet with some of the Chinese students, sing with them and do a fun balancing activity. They we all so nice to us and eager to learn new truths about Jesus. It made me think about how I want to be constantly wanting to learn more about Jesus and have that eager desire to be teachable as they were towards us. I love the childlike faith they demonstrated to me and that is something I am constantly seeking to be more like. Jesus is my Abba Father and wants me to run to Him with open arms- no turning back.
This month was such a great month and full of struggles but God taught me to lean on Him more than anything.

Thank you all for your support and prayers! Another post will be coming about the struggles I faced in the Philippines and how I learned to lean Him more than anything this world has to offer.
