The Philippines… Oh my… My heart.
I’m gonna be super real with you for a second and just say… I stinkin’ LOVED this month.
Leaving Africa and walking into Asia, all I could feel was excitement. I had been waiting the entire race for the last five months to be spent in Southeast Asia.
I had heard nothing but good things about the country of The Philippines, but didn’t know exactly what to expect. So, I walked in ready for anything The Lord had in store. I just had no clue what He was about to do.
The very first night proved how great the people are. We worked with a church called Moriah Bible Baptist Church in Bulakan, Bulacan. The members of this church through us a HUGE welcome party night one, filled with great food, fun games, and amazing people. I came alive that night, meeting all the people and being reminded of why I loved Asia SO much. It was fun watching my friends on my squad start to realize that night just why I had such love for this continent.
This month was an unexpected all-squad month. At first, everyone was reluctant to spend another month surrounded by 40 other people in a small enclosed area. But after some time, we realized why we were ALL here, in the same place, at this certain time.
We were, in fact, the first squad this ministry has had in this city of the Philippines. Our squad made it possible to kick off what will be a long-term community outreach in this city. There will be multiple World-Race teams to follow us. It was a huge privilege to pave the way for all The Lord will continue to do in that community.
About a week ago, our squad had the opportunity to put on a large outreach event in the City Center Plaza. We performed skits, dramas, told testimonies, and preached the gospel for hundreds of Filipino people. I had the opportunity to share my testimony and share the story of what The Lord has done to redeem things in my life and make them beautiful in it’s time. (more to come on that subject later)
That night, 32 people came and accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It was such an amazing night filled with the sweet presence of The Lord.
This month was a month that impacted me greatly in a variety of different ways…
-The Filipino people touched my heart so much and truly taught me what it is to be a servant of Christ and to those around me.
-The Lord continued to grow me and work deeply in my heart, per usual (He’s been doing that a lot lately..).
-I was reminded why I love Asia SO much. I was reminded why a piece of my heart remained here when I came 2 years ago
-I felt a pure joy here and a freedom that was indescribable. It’s funny how when you share pieces of yourself with others, how The Lord uses that to heal those places and bring restoration where you thought was impossible to be restored.
Month 7 has come and gone.
