How do you take an entire month that was full of adventure, ministry, and all the things, and wrap it up into one word?
Well, it’s nearly impossible, but I’ll just call this one… Community.
South Africa was a month full of lots and lots of community. The first part of our time in White River, SA was Woman-istry month, meaning all the men on the squad went off to Botswana for 2 weeks and all the girls started ministry strong, getting a chance to get to know each other more and build each other up. Each night after ministry, we would do something as a group of women to come together, some nights we would worship together, other nights we would have bible study, and every so often, we would have date-nights. Every time we came together as a community, I would feel refreshed and renewed. Each and every single person on this squad brings so much joy into my life and makes this race all the more enjoyable. They build me up in encouragement in the Word, they point me back to Christ in every situation, and never fail to lift me up with joy.
Community is something I had been desiring before leaving for the race. I wanted to be able to have a solid group of people in which I could grow with and do life with. I was constantly praying for people who could help push me and run this race called life with. The Lord sure did answer that prayer BIG time. In just 4 months, I have built friendships that I know will last a life-time. South Africa definitely reminded me how blessed I am to have such an amazing squad.
From throwing Christmas parties for children in need and distress, to dancing Hannah Montana’s Hoedown Thrown for our churches’ Christmas play, ministry was definitely an adventure this month.
Also, Team changes have taken place and I have new team to do these next three months with!
Currently my new team, #StaySalty and I are in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe working with an organization called Scripture Union that works with families and kids in nearby villages and share the love of Christ with them. There will be more to come about ministry and life with my new team is like soon!
