God is so good.  He knows what I need and when I need it.

Coming into month 8, He knew that our men needed a month of man-time, and so provided them with a month to bond and do manly things in South Sudan.  I try to avoid the gory details, but I picture a lot of sitting in chairs backwards, comparing chest hair, and belching…with a healthy dose of Godly encouragement and truth, of course.

The women of E squad were put on all-women teams, and we fled the Ebola outbreak in Uganda under cover of darkness, arriving in Kenya at around 3 am to begin an unplanned month in Kenya.  I am so grateful that we did, as it has become one of my favorite countries.

Meanwhile, God knew I needed a break from team leading, and I was given the opportunity to accompany Leah, our female squad leader, as she traveled around Kenya to minister to all of our women teams.

I will never forget how Leah and I spent August 2012: becoming close friends with one another, growing in intimacy with the Lord, serving in incredible ministries, seeing the Kenyan countryside, and laughing with our squad mates.

Here is a video I put together of our time together.  It is the first I have made, so be gentle with it…I'm sorry it is so long, but I knew I wanted Leah and I to be able to look back on it one day with all the memories I could squeeze in!

To help you understand some of it, there are ministry scenes of…

-a high school girls conference we did for 850 Kenyan girls

-slum ministry in one of the biggest slums in the world, Kibera, on the outskirts of Nairobi.

-tutoring students and playing games with them at Challenge Farm in Kitale, which is an orphanage for street children.

-loving on and playing with the poor, malnourished children living down the road from the farm.

-helping to milk the cows…one of the many ways Challenge Farm is able to feed it’s 120 children.

-preaching and worshipping in an awesome church in Bumgoma, as well as visiting an orphanage to play with the children.

…and many other scenes of the laughs and craziness along the way! Enjoy!
