After months of reading blogs and watching videos and telling people about the trip and fundraising and going to training camp and anticipating this year, I finally get to live it.

It’s surreal and exciting that it is finally my turn to do this thing.

To learn to meet people where they are and see them through Christ’s eyes, no matter what…

To take 8 modes of transportation to get somewhere 2 hours away, and to have 36 hour travel “days”…

To see people in communities that have nothing teach me what it means to have faith in God’s provision…

To say “Jesus” to people who have never heard the name before…

To walk and climb and skip and stumble on the terrains of mountains, beaches, desserts, dirt roads, and city sidewalks across the world…

To look and see that the colors in each person’s eyes are as beautiful as the sunsets in Africa, if only we would slow down and look

To let myself believe and see that God is so much bigger and more real than I ever knew…

To enjoy the taste of the food and appreciate the hands who prepared it, no matter what it is…

To get up in front of people in a new culture with a new language and preach, no matter how scary or poorly prepared I am, and trust God to put the words in my mouth…

To laugh at the absurd and hilarious situations that arise when living with 6 strangers 24/7 for the first time….

To feel the unity and bond built when worshipping with the Church, no matter the language or culture…

To have the happiest, saddest, most exciting, most boring, most exhilarating, most grounding, most bonding, most lonely, most blessed 11 months of my life.

Just to let everyone know, we have made it safely to La Libertad, El Salvador!  The people who are hosting us are so unbelievably kind and hospitable, I can already tell why people say that the World Race is a humbling experience.  We are staying at the pastor’s house and have already led worship and preached a bit at church!  We are not 100% clear on what our ministry will be just yet as we have only been here for two days, but will apparently be working a lot with children and with the church on community projects.
