As we ring in the New Year, some of you may be making resolutions to reach out to those in need more, and I wanted to include you all in an opportunity to be faithful stewards.
I want you all to meet my little brother who lives in Ghana, Africa.

His name is Kwame, and he is 3 years old. He lives in a community consisting of very basic mud homes with tin roofs where malaria runs rampant. This forested community does not have schools, clean water, medical supplies, proper sanitation, roads, or adequate nutrition.

He lives with his mother, who is widowed, and struggles to feed and clothe Kwame with the meager income she makes as a petty trader. Most of the employed adults in Kwame’s community make around $7 per month.
I sponsor Kwame through Compassion International for $38/month. Compassion International is very diligent in making sure that my sponsorship money is used carefully to meet first Kwame’s basic needs, and then his educational and development needs.
The monthly sponsorship allows Kwame to participate at the Foso-Mempeasem Child Development Center which provides him with Bible teaching, health screening, school fees, field trips, and community service opportunities. The center also provides parenting classes and discipleship for Kwame’s mother. Most of these service are only available for sponsored children.
Although I will not have an income for at least the next year while I am on the World Race, I did not want to forfeit my sponsorship of this lovely little boy. I am currently trying to balance finances for next year, and the additional $38/month is adding more of a burden than I anticipated.
If anyone feels a pull on your heart at all while reading this, please consider the possibility that God is asking you to become Kwame’s financial sponsor for the year 2012. I will resume financial sponsorship in 2013.
I will also continue correspondence with him via letters I have written in advance, and will tell him about the kind angel that is helping me sponsor him. You could also write to Kwame yourself and be involved, or simply help me with the financial burden.
Please email me at [email protected] or comment below if you feel at all led to take over sponsorship of this child in the year 2012.
