Here in Honduras…

We’ve visited extremely poor communities. Gangsters, drug abuse problems, and girls as young as 13 pregnant are the norm.

Fried plantains are my favorite food.
I haven’t felt scared once, despite its reputation for being one of the most dangerous countries in the world.

Over 50 people share 2 showers.
I get to spend Friday afternoons loving on special needs children.

I sleep in my tent set up inside a former nightclub.
It was reinforced to me that teaching is NOT my gift. Recess I could handle.

The weather has been much cooler and nicer than El Salvador.
Minimum wage in Tegucigalpa is $0.80 an hour.
I’ve dug up and moved more rocks than I ever care to do again.

Last Wednesday some of us spent our free day at the beach.

I’ve fallen in love with all the teenage boys who live here at Zion’s Gate, even if they test my patience sometimes.

My favorite part about the whole squad being together is having people to run with.
I watched an entire season of Modern Family. New favorite show.
The hardest ministry we’ve done was visiting the city dump, where thousands of kids dig through garbage looking for recyclables.

My favorite ministry is visiting a home for girls who have been taken off the streets, most of them former drug addicts.

The luxuries I miss from last month are Diet Pepsi, a washing machine and Wi-Fi.
We leave next Friday, March 9, for debrief in Granada, Nicaragua.
I’m still $3,000 away from being fully funded. Please consider making a donation to allow me to stay on the race and to impact people in nine more hurting countries.
