Before I start this blog, I want to clear something up. On my last blog, I wrote that I would not be satisfied with the typical American Christian life. I realized after it was posted that it could have possibly been taken the wrong way.
PLEASE hear my heart. Every single person within the body of Christ has a specific calling and purpose. And I believe there are specific people created and designed to be ministers within the workplace and within the American church. By no means do I think that any calling or purpose is less important than another. And I believe we are all missionaries, no matter where we are. I did not want to diminish anyone’s ministry or calling, but rather emphasize where God has called ME and purposed my destiny. I definitely do not think there is only one right way to serve God and it is in our differences that we will be able to reach the nations.
So, currently God has been speaking to me a lot about the power of choice. We as humans can sometimes question if we really have a choice because God is all-knowing and he plans out our life based on our ‘choices’ that he already knows. And I’ve realized that I have actually really wanted God to make all of our choices for us because then it leaves us completely absent from an responsibility in life. If God makes all our choices for us, then we can blame him when things go wrong or when we are hurting.
But I have found that God is passionate about protecting our freedom to choose. He is serious about letting us make choices because he is not a dictator or a puppet master, but he is a loving father. He wants us to choose to love him out of our free will, because obligated love isn’t really love. And I’ve realized that He didn’t make life to always be easy and to always get out of difficult situations, but he made life to be full of choices. Choices that define us. Choices that speak louder than our labels and titles about who our God is and who we love. We know that we can say we love God but if our life choices are not made based on our relationship with the heart of God, our words are empty. We make choices because we know His heart, and love his heart, not because of rules or fear of punishment. That’s a whole different blog.
And so this is what God has been speaking to me:
I have a choice. He is not going to make a decision for me. He will give me anything I ask for, perspective, discernment, wisdom…but he will not take my choice from me. Any choice, He will bless because He is good but no matter what, I have to trust him because HE IS FOR ME. always.
How incredible is it that we have a capacity to feel some of the things we feel. How amazing is it that we have the capacity to make choices and to reason. I am blown away by how intricate we were made and how everything about us was made with such purpose. God made us with such capacities for a purpose. To KNOW us.
What an honor it is to know and love such a wonderful God. What an honor it is to have such a selfless Dad so FULL of love, whose very nature is LOVE.
Even in the hardest seasons of life, I can’t help but love him and thank him.
He is so good to me. And I will choose this day, to trust him.
