At Central Penn College, my place of employment, we have an award that is given out at the annual Years of Service Appreciation event. A weekend warrior is someone who serves others in their free time and goes above and beyond in that service.

There is someone who has helped me with several fundraisers as well as organized a couple herself. She had big expectations and God did not disappoint! The Weekend Warrior Award for tirelessly fundraising/supporting me goes to…drum-roll please…

Mary Lynn Hawk (a.k.a Mom)!!!

Here’s a breakdown of the latest fundraisers:

April 30- Pancake Breakfast & Silent Auction

This fundraiser was Mom’s big project. She had been praying to raise $1000 and God completely blew that out of the water. Instead of $1000 God provided $2000!! Look at God go!!!

May 7- Matt Lines Mentalist Show

One of my coworkers graciously donated a free performance as a fundraiser. We raised almost $200! We had a great time learning about memory tricks and were baffled at how Matt seemed to read participants’ minds as he utilized memory & behavioral techniques.

May 14- Yard Sale

Our neighborhood has an annual yard sale so we took the opportunity to raise funds. The weather had been rainy which is worrisome for an outside event, but God coaxed the sun out for the morning and afternoon! We saw a steady stream of people come through & raised over $300!! Funny story: God literally held off the rain for this event; as we were finishing boxing up remaining items the storm clouds were looming and spritzing us.

Over the three consecutive weekends of fundraisers we raised $2,500!!! I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to express how grateful I am for each and every person who has partnered with me. Each and every dollar that you all have generously gifted reminds me of God’s lavish love and faithfulness! Thank you!!!

Until next time,

~Bethany~
