new month. new team. new ministry. new experiences.

At the beginning of this month we had team changes. My team is same same but different now. My teammates are: Chandler Collins, Sandy Gaston, Ryan Hughes, Mandi Lee, and Silas Cole. We created a new team name, Surge 12:9. The name speaks a lot of where we want to go as a team and changes we want to make, personally and together; the 12:9 is from II Corinthians 12:9.
We are now in Cambodia, until New Year’s eve. My team is living on an island on a river. We have electricity about 3 hours a night, use squatty potties, sleep in our tents in a large room, buckets shower, and do laundry in a large bowl. The room we live in has bars for the windows and doors, where kids stand all day looking in at us; we definitely feel like we are animals at the zoo at times. Needless to say, this is definitely a challenge, but it’s a good one.
Our ministry this month is basically teaching English 3 times a day and helping out with any cleaning or building projects. We are at a place called House if Joy, where maybe 80 kids come during the day for school and to get fed. We are helping out the pastor who teaches everyday, but basically anything we do becomes an English lesson. In the evening we hang out with teens, we help them with English and we learn Khmer.
On our little island we don’t have much Internet (some if took an hour tuk tuk ride to the city today); so I probably won’t be blogging much this month.
much love!
