Jeremiah 17:7-8
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.
No, I would not consider myself a tree hugger per say, though I do enjoy the shade on a summer’s day. (Hey that rhymed! 😉 ) Jeremiah 17:7-8 has been on my mind for a long time now and has come back every now and then over this past year. I think we can learn a lot about ourselves by looking at what we are rooted in, like the tree in Jeremiah.
I can tell easily when I have not spent time with Jesus and tried to root myself in other things. The thing is, if we want to produce good fruit, we need to be planted in good things.
Just something I have been thinking about! 🙂
