This week I had the opportunity to pass out bags of food to a poor community in a neighboring city.

It was a fun impromptu opportunity for ministry. One of Victor’s friends called him and asked him if he wanted to pass out food. Victor then called me and asked me if I wanted to help. I of course said yes!

One of the families in the community —

This past month I was also able to attend the quincinera for the girl I support in El Salvador. It was my first time going to this kind of celebration. I was so excited that I could be apart of Raquel’s big day!

One night I had to take a picture of Victor making me dinner! First time for a guy to make me dinner so I had to take a picture for the books!

I am still teaching English two days a week and leading a women’s bible study on Saturdays. This past Sunday I led worship which was fun! I will be leading worship at the youth service tomorrow. Also this week two ladies approached me from the sowing ministry and asked me to teach them english. So next week I will be adding two more students to my repertoire. This week I will be meeting with the teachers from the music school and hopefully we will be ready to start the new semester within the next two weeks.
Pray for God to give me discernment on different choices I will be making. Also, for God to show me my purpose here. I want to have an impact that is eternal!
Here are some differences I have noticed about my life in El Salvador:
- Cold showers
- Throw your toilet paper in the trash
- No dryer – dry clothes in the sun
- Most people don’t have ovens, only stove tops
- No A/C –during the day about 90 degrees
- No car – most people travel by public transportation
- No phone plan – I have to pay for credit as I need it
- There are 5 church services every week
- Cars with big speakers and amps broadcast publications at all times of the day
- Dancing, alcohol, tattoos, and secular music is frowned upon by Christians
- Most people aren’t out past 9:00 p.m.
- White people are automatically thought to be upper-class (even though I am a single woman missionary with no income!)
- Customer service is not important –if there is a problem with your merchandise or they made a mistake-too bad!
- Women nurse their babies in the middle of church with nothing covered
