This week we
have been visiting poor communities and sharing the gospel. I’ve actually learned how to share the
wordless book in Spanish. These
families live in houses made out of mud and practically have nothing.

A group of Canadians have been here for a couple of months making homes made out of tin for the families.

We went to a key ceremony and watched the families receive their first home not made out of dirt.

One family
that stuck out to me was two brothers and their sister. They seemed to be in their teens or
less. The eldest told the group
that, “God does not forsake the orphans and I know because I am one.” That hit me hard and got me thinking
about the verse:
“You,
LORD, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to
their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed.”

My team has
been discussing suffering and what it means to bring heaven to earth.
“Your
kingdom come,
your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Many times
we feel discouraged when visiting these communities because we want to badly to
fix their problems along with sharing Jesus. We often wonder, “How can we stop their suffering?” “How can
we make this look like Heaven on Earth with so much suffering?”
I’ve learned
that Jesus did not relieve all suffering on the Earth when he came. But He still brought heaven to earth by
reconciling our relationship through His death. The whole point of heaven is finally coming face to face
with our Savior and once again having that relationship that we were created
for in the garden.
Heaven is
everyone being reconciled to Christ.
Suffering is a result of sin and will not end until Christ finally
returns. But we should be
encouraged because there is still so much Heaven we can bring to these people!

Below is a drama we performed last sunday.
