Bien Veniedos A El Salvador!

We finally
arrived in El Salvador on Friday. We are staying in the city, San Vicente. We are working with the Primer Templo
Cristiano Church and Pastor Oscar.

Oscar, His wife Jackie, and Carlita
Also, One of the helpers at the church is a young girl named Jackie-who
is our translator, cook, and friend.
We have been truly blessed by this family. Their desire is for us to feel at home and become family,
and I already feel just that.
Jackie

We are
living at the pastor’s house which is connected to the church. Saturday we spent the day learning skits
and preparing for Domingo (Sunday) service.
The pastor
also took us to a natural pool, which was really refreshing. However, there were tons of fish in the
water constantly biting us. (Probably because our white skin glowed in the
water) We were constantly moving
our feet to get them off.

Sunday
morning we went to the park to do a skit and witness to the people. There were a lot of kids who came to
watch.

My team mate Katie, shared the gospel message and invited them to receive
Christ. There were a couple people
that responded and asked for prayer.
Sunday
service started at 3:30pm. The day
before I was told that I would be leading worship and it would be best to sing
the songs in Spanish. I looked for songs on Youtube that they knew that I knew
how to play. An hour before service I was told that some of my Spanish
words were incorrect and that I needed to relearn the correct ones for the
service. A half hour before
service one of the elders decided to play guitar with us and told me that we
were playing different chords than what they usually played. I ended up having to change the chords
to fit what they were used to.
When it came time to play it was a bit nerve racking only because I had
only learned the Spanish the day before.
But I felt God tell me, “I have touched your mouth and given you the
words.” I stepped out in Faith and God gave us grace to complete it
successfully.

We followed
the worship with a drama “Everything” by Lifehouse. After the pastor spoke people came up for us to pray for
them. It was definitely a growing and learning experience that day. I plan on learning more Spanish worship
songs and desire to be able to share the gospel in Spanish.

These people
live in a country all their lives called El Salvador which means “The Savior”,
yet never truly know who is their Savior.
My prayer is that my team will emanate who Christ is, so that the people
will learn who He can be to them.
