On your mark, get set, RACE ~

The long awaited Race Day of the mighty World Race was upon us, the excitement was in the air, competition was flying between teams and anticipation held all involved on the edge of their seats.

We began our journey in Church Square, downtown Pretoria. Capital of South Africa and full of deep history, exquisite craftsmanship and the ideal place to start a race. We were off to the Union Building across town to receive our next clue.

We arrived to discover this sprawling green park, loaded with blooming flowers, majestic trees and school children in uniform on a field trip. A history geek’s dream come true. But a quick picture, and we were off to Johannesburg. No need to hurry, we were all on the same train for the next hour and a half. In Joburg, we traveled from the downtown train station to the Zoo, Moyo, a wonderfully cultural restaurant, the Apartheid museum, and to the top of South Africa’s tallest building.

Sadly, Team Zion had a difficult time being transported from Moyo to the Apartheid Museum, removing all chances of a victory. However, there is hope for the future, as we learned many lessons to make us better races in the legs to come.
