So with the race coming to an end, moments have become a bit more light hearted and our team has been blessed with such a chance to breath lightly with a great host, great location and peaceful community. We have had great times together playing games, getting to reflect and remanence on the memories had over the past 11 months and walk in laughter most of our days be it from funny things said through translation or between ourselves and ailments foreign food causes.
Our host this month is a beautiful dad like figure of a man who truly cares for us in and out and not only wants to be apart of our life but wants us to get the most out of Malawi. His heart comes from a peaceful place, only wanting the best and always making room for biblical moments and rest days. (and nervously telling us not to go to close to the edge when hiking the prayer mountain) haha

Sleep has been the hardest this month due to concrete floors and tight spaces. Everything else however, is to dream for when thinking of the optimal month 11 experience.

Living in the outskirts of the big city where dirt and mud brick shacks reign, kids run aimlessly, and white people are seemingly unseen by every kid around. The house is beautiful with three rooms for all us to split up in, and enough electricity to power a few light bulbs at night which is a nice gift. We have a wonderful group of ladies who prepare hot water for tea times and all our meals for us every day with smiles on their faces and babies strapped around their backs.

There have been many moments I have found myself simply sitting with them in the fire lit shacks out back while they cook feeling completely at peace and content in life. Our host and ladies who cook for us tend to do that, radiate peace and contentment with the life God has given them. So it’s nice to get as much time in their presence as possible.

Ministry consists of door to door evangelism during the weekdays after morning devo. It’s been a great thing to grow in over the months and even better thing to see how God provides and molds a story for us to share within seconds of meeting people. I was always one to say walking up to someone and telling them a story about Jesus or God and our lives does no good when you don’t know them or meet them on a personal level. Partly because I was never fond on being the receiving end of many people who do this and felt objectified when treated this way. However learning to look past my preferred ways of spreading His word and into what the culture and people need here becomes easier every day with each story we hear of our prayers over the families we meet coming true the next day.

Lesson learned: just because something isn’t done perfect, ideal or how I prefer it, doesn’t mean it is entirely bad nor does it inhibit from great things happening.
There are many other thoughts happening now as you can imagine with the end of this great snippet of my life now in sight. Within two weeks I will be back home walking on American soil, or concrete. (Looking more forward to the dirt and shoeless life that’s for sure!) So yes, more blogs to come about that possibly and all that’s happening but before that can happen I have to decode all that’s rattling back and forth in the brain haha. So stay tuned and who knows, maybe you will see me before the next blog post 😉
Again I can’t thank you enough for your support, prayers, friendship and encouragement over the past year. This is said all the time and may mean nothing to you but I now know it’s said because it’s entirely true; I couldn’t have done this without you all!
