A wave caught isn’t enjoyed as much when rushed, when frantically trying to place ourselves in the sweet spot. It’s as if we forget that in mere seconds another opportunity will be rolling in behind us, possibly lining up perfectly with our location and then tugging at our board. Like a river, surfing is a spitting image of life and the symphony it plays. We see the coming goodness, paddle to keep up with it, feel its push and favor to bring us along its beautiful path. Ride it and become one with it; yet as always that part ends and a different phase is to be undertaken. One of which sometimes brings anger and pain, weariness and struggle. If the current and break in waves is bad enough it can even bring throughs of surrender. In these moments are when we break past ourselves, the fear and feelings and persevere on pass the break. In the midst of beating waves we paddle on not looking where we are at and the water crashing around us, we look ahead. We look where we want to go, we look past the stormy waters and keep paddling keeping the coming beauty we know awaiting for us in our minds.
No matter how long either phase may be, they are both that of value and necessity for either to have worth and existence and for you to take any part in them. Be you paddling out, loosing hope for what you have seen or haven’t seen in God’s wave, keep paddling. Be you riding, feeling the push, gliding in His pocket of magnificent force and beauty. Or you are sitting atop your board waiting for the wave that is to be your own-Be THERE. Engulf, surrender yourself to either positions. Neither will either control or keep you, yet a continual change in water are always to come. So feel each one, be encompassed by them and experience/grow from what each has to offer.
Everything and phase has something to offer if you ask God to show you.
Once aware that no phase of life shall last forever and all are of equal worth, this is where joy and strength comes from to continue paddling the cycle continually. Not just this week, not just this year but forever! And in this ‘forever’ we never rush to catch a wave or clear the break by expelling our every ounce of energy. We simple BE and let the peace and joy of every moment fill us. Let the trust you have in the process “God” fulfill itself. For when God sends your wave, it isn’t just another wave in the ocean, it is a wave that has been building itself up with all its force and uniqueness for miles to come. Doesn’t that sound a lot better than willing yourself into a ‘wave’ moment every chance you get?
Find peace in the paddle. Find ? peace ? in the waiting. Be filled with joy in the ride. And repeat.
Discover the joy of paddling. Be inspired by your surrounding in the waiting. Look where you want to go in the ride. And repeat.
