This morning I was reminded of a song that I grew up listening to with my parents. It’s called No Weapon by Fred Hammond.
I love this song because the lyrics are simple yet a powerful reminder for your spirit. It goes like this:
No weapon formed against me shall prosper, it won’t work
God will do what He said He would do
He will stand by His word and He will come through
When I was in CGA (Center for Global Action), the Lord spoke to me through a sermon I had listened to based off of 1 Kings 13:11-34 and He said, “My word is the WORD you hold onto.” I wrote that phrase down and have kept it close to my heart ever since.
Yesterday, the Lord reminded me of it again. “My word is the WORD you hold onto.”
There are visions and dreams that the Lord has given us. Things that are IMPOSSIBLE unless He is the author. At the same time, the enemy knows that you have a great destiny, as a child of God, so he is going to do whatever he can to distract you, trip you up and send so many fiery darts your way.
The truth of the matter is in your own strength you can’t accomplish those dreams and visions and make them come to pass. In your own strength you can’t defeat the lies, distractions and arrows of the enemy. BUT with the help and power of Almighty God you CAN and WILL be able to fight against the enemies shenanigans!
The apostle Paul lets us know how important it is for us to be dressed FULLY in God’s armor.
In Ephesians 6:10-18 (AMP) it says:
10 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might. 11 Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. 13 Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious]. 14 So stand firm and hold your ground, having [a]tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart), 15 and having [b]strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]. 16 Above all, lift up the [protective] [c]shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
18 With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all [d]God’s people.
We have to remember that our battle is not against each other “but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” [Ephesians 6:12 NIV]
It’s not guaranteed to be easy but as long as you know who is leading the charge (Jesus) and you’re staying close to His heart, you’re going to be just fine. But don’t forget one of the most important parts…PRAYER.
“Be JOYFUL always; pray CONTINUALLY; give thanks in ALL circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV), emphasis added
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by PRAYER and PETITION, with THANKSGIVING present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends ALL understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV), emphasis added
The Father loves you and He loves for you to ask Him for things. That’s your birthright as a child of God through Christ Jesus.
So take those DREAMS, whether BIG or small, and cover them in prayer.
Trust that the Lord is who He says He is.
Put on His Full Armor so you are equipped for battle.
Believe that He will do what He has spoken over you.
Nothing is IMPOSSIBLE with God.
“…so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
Isaiah 55:11 (NIV)
