One of my favorite songs right now is Seasons Change by United Pursuit from their latest album Simple Gospel. The whole album is amazing but this song really struck me when I was in Greece.
Though the music changes
And the songs we sing
We still lift our praises to our loving God and King
Though the seasons change
Your love remains
Your love remains
Lord you’ve been faithful to plant the seeds
And you will be faithful to always send your rain
While I was in Lesvos, Greece it was life changing in many ways, especially working so closely with the refugees. As we would drive to the camp each day, I would see the leaves changing color. I would think of this song and how it was relevant to the refugees and all though they were having to leave their homes, families and country to find refuge and security, God’s love for them remained. It had never changed and never will.
Little did I know that this song wasn’t only relevant to the situation I was encountering that month but it would also be relevant to my last month on the race as an alumni squad leader.
My final month on the field was spent in Bulawayo and Harare, Zimbabwe. It was an interesting month to say the least. The country was nice, just not my favorite. I enjoyed every single moment spent with my squad and was sad to leave them as my time came to an end.
January was a month of questions for the Lord. Well, the same question, until He answered. A time of waiting for him to confirm something…anything about my next steps. As I would ask him, almost daily, to speak clearly to me, I would hear him say to Trust Him. This was my question for him pretty much every day. The funny thing is that He had already answered me when I was in Lesvos, Greece. It just took me this long to realize and come to terms with it.
As I sit here in the Canadian airport about to catch my last flight to Atlanta, Georgia, I believe that my next steps will be OBEDIENCE in the changing of this season. I’m going to Georgia to get my car and my clothing. I’ll be spending a few days there to relax and recharge and then I will drive 12½ hours to Kansas City, MO (my hometown).
God is so good in the way that he confirmed to me that this was the next step. I was listening to a sermon titled, He Took the Manna Off the Menu by Steven Furtick. He used the text from Joshua 5:12, “The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate of the produce of Canaan.” He mentioned that when God brings you into a new season that He may also change the way He was providing for you.
That was so encouraging to me. I never want to become complacent or think that I always know exactly how God is going to provide.
These past 5 months the Father continues to draw me into deeper and deeper trust and dependence on Him. I ABSOLUTELY love it! I love the thrill of this ongoing adventure with Him.
When I was with a team in Sombor, Serbia, their host had asked me to come up and share an encouraging word about my walk with the Lord and what it’s like. Surprised by the question, I stepped in front of the congregation and started to explain to them that Jesus is my adventure guide. Little did I know that this statement would ring true for me the remaining 4 months of the race.
The Lord continues to confirm to me that He longs to take me on adventures. I have to be unafraid and take His hand even when I can’t see what’s ahead. Trusting that He will always lead me. For His glory and my good.
I am still fundraising for my time squad leading. If you are able to support me financially, will you consider giving to Adventures in Missions to cover the cost of my time squad leading. You can click here or the support me tab at the top of this page to give.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you all! I couldn’t do this without you.
