One day, the Lord gave me this picture of walking on a tightrope.
As I began to take my first step there was a lot of chaos surrounding me as I looked down. On the other end of the rope Jesus was standing there waiting for me.
He gently said, “Fix your eyes on me.”
So I did.
As I kept my eyes locked to His, I took one step and then another and I began to get closer and closer to Him.
I continued to get closer to the Lord and the chaos surrounding me got higher in efforts to distract me. But as I stayed fixed on the eyes of my Savior, the chaos around me began to settle.
Circumstances often come up in our lives but one thing the Lord reminded me of is that we have a choice.
We can choose to exalt our circumstances
or
exalt the one who told the wind and waves to obey.
We can keep looking down at our circumstances and focus on everything negative that’s happening in our lives
or
we can choose to lift up our heads and magnify the Lord and remember His faithfulness towards us.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Hebrews 13:8
In the past He delivered you, He will do the same now.
Call on His name.
Ask Him to settle the chaos of your situation.
Watch as He whispers Be Still.
Let’s choose to be a people who keep our eyes focused on the author and perfecter of our faith.
Choose to recount the marvelous things that He has done.
Choose to walk by faith and not by sight.
Choose to trust the Lord.
It may not be easy but He says in His word that “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” Isaiah 40:29
Fix your eyes and put one foot in front of the other.
