Has the Lord ever whispered something so softly to you that you hear it but you don’t think too much about it?

Last semester in CGA, one of the first things a speaker taught us was based off of this verse in Matthew.

28 Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Put My yoke upon your shoulders—it might appear heavy at first, but it is perfectly fitted to your curves. Learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. When you are yoked to Me, your weary souls will find rest. 30 For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

Matthew 11:28-30 (The Voice)

At the time I thought, “Wow, that’s really good. Thanks for the reminder, Lord.”

Now, here I am at the beginning of the second semester of CGA, and I’m being reminded of this simple yet powerful truth again!

A couple of weekends ago, worship track went to the Ascend Worship Conference in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Worship Track Summer 2015 (from L to R: Abigail, Sheila, Sabrina, Brooke, Me and Mikala)

It was absolutely incredible and we heard teachings from some amazing men and women of God like: Steffany Gretzinger, Jeremy Riddle, Sean Feucht, David Fritch, and Ray Hughes.

Before we left for the trip, the Lord reminded me of that passage again! So I wasn’t surprised that on the first or second night of the conference it was mentioned.

I’ve heard it said that when the Lord brings up a topic more than once,

PAY ATTENTION!

So I decided to look up what the role of the yoke and oxen represents.

A yoke is a wooden beam normally used between a pair of oxen or other animals to enable them to pull together on a load when working in pairs, as oxen usually do; some yokes are fitted to individual animals. There are several types of yoke, used in different cultures, and for different types of oxen.

Oxen are used for plowing, for transport. Oxen are usually yoked in pairs.

The yoke fitted around oxen is usually heavy and has to be fitted properly to the neck of the oxen or it causes uneven plowing and could hurt the animal.

The yoke that the Lord is offering us is the complete opposite of this.

His yoke is easy and crafted to fit you perfectly! And the great thing about the Lord is that he is not going to offer you the yoke and hope that you can carry it on your own. No! He is on the other side of that thing walking beside you and teaching you how to plow through whatever life has thrown at you. And what’s even better is that He promises that you will find rest for your soul.

So which yoke are you going to put around your neck today?

Your own heavy, misshapen yoke? Or are you going to put on the yoke and burden that Christ offers? It’s simple, lightweight and full of so much rest.

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Matthew 11:29

I want to challenge us to be people who carry the yoke and burden of Christ. In every situation. For us to abide close to the heart of the Father and give Him the space to walk us through whatever we are facing in life.

I am still in need of $1,623 before July 1st to meet the financial deadline for CGA. The semester ends on August 28th. If you are able to give financially, you can do so by clicking on the ‘Support Me’ tab at the top of this page or on the left hand side.

Your donations will help me continue to receive teaching and activation that helps me get one step closer to my calling.

Thank you for believing in me and this God-sized dream!
