Spring is my favorite season of all time!

I’m so excited that it’s officially here! Not just because my birthday is right around the corner (April 8th) but because of the newness that spring brings.

This month, I have been learning about false and true identity. We had a guest speaker in worship track, Betsy Garmon, share with us about her journey to find her true self and how we can do the same.

“If you don’t figure out who you are then you are going to walk out someone else’s story, vocation and ministry.” Betsy Garmon

Identity is very important. Your whole life is shaped around your identity. How you perceive yourself, your likes or dislikes, etc.

When I look at trees I think about identity. The way the trees shed their leaves during the cold winter season, only to bloom brilliant flowers for the spring and summer seasons.

This is how we should be with our false self. Our false self hinders the growth of the new and brilliant things the Lord has for us.

A couple of weeks ago I had a dream about a daffodil. It was being held upright but all of a sudden it was turned upward to receive, like a cup. Then something was poured into the daffodil and it was able to contain every drop.

The Lord has been speaking to me lately through my dreams and I was really interested to know what the daffodil symbolized. I looked online to find out what a daffodil represents.

The daffodil symbolizes new beginnings, a rebirth.

“If you don’t remove the old varnish, the new stuff can’t even sink in!”

– Betsy Garmon

God wants to give you a new beginning but it starts with shedding your false self and allowing him to pour in the true identity that He has for you. It may not be easy, there may be some tears shed but it will definitely be worth it.

So what kind of tree do you want to be this season?

Allow the Father to get rid of your false self and uncover your true identity. After all, Jesus said that He is the master gardener.

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.” John 15:1 (VOICE)

There is so much freedom in knowing who you are and whose you are.

I choose to live out of my true self and be launched into the new beginning that God has for me!

“Therefore, if anyone is united with the Anointed One, that person is a new creation. The old life is gone—and see—a new life has begun!”

2 Corinthians 5:17 (VOICE)
