I packed up my car and headed south with a dream and my cardigan…
Saying goodbye to friends and family was a tad bit easier this time around than when I left for the world race. I think it helps that we are all still in the same country! The drive down to Gainesville went well. I arrived later that afternoon at 4:30 p.m., I got a little lost on the country roads but God is still so good. I arrived right just in time for dinner!

A Georgia Sunset!
Before I left home, I had tried to make a list of how I would need to pay my bills while I was here in Georgia. My parents are being a huge blessing to me by taking care of my car payment and phone bill while I’m here at CGA. My housing, utilities and food stipend are included in the cost of center for global action for the 8 months that I will be here. So I still need to figure out how to pay for gas and my two college loans each month. I had talked with my parents to see how they were doing with the car bill. They told me that they were behind and didn’t know where the money was going to come from. Knowing that I serve the God of the universe and He has everything that I need, I told my mom to ask God to provide the money.
Another Georgia sunset!
Welcome week was packed full of information, it was all really good things to know but just a lot to process. Toward the end of the week I was overwhelmed. Not with welcome week really, but just trying to figure out financial stuff was exhausting. I had hit my breaking point!
I called my parents and told them how the first week had gone. As I was telling them about it I was overwhelmed with emotions and began to doubt that CGA is where I am suppose to be.
How am I going to pay for my loans?
Can I find/get a job to help my parents with my car payment?
I should just go back home.
Lies and doubts were swirling through my head! I was allowing the enemy to have a field day with my thoughts. Finally my mom spoke up and said, “Oh I meant to tell you, God provided the money for your car. We are caught up now.”
I couldn’t believe it! I was so overjoyed and began crying even more than I was before. I was so overwhelmed with how faithful God is. All he wants us to do is ask and have faith to trust Him to provide even in the small things.
Then my mom spoke some encouragement and truth into me. She reminded me that if I had faith for God to provide the money for my car then I need to have faith that he will provide for CGA. That means gas money for my car and money for my college loans.
That was exactly what I needed to hear to pick up my sword of truth and my helmet of salvation to fight off the lies and doubts that the enemy was throwing my way.
I love how The Voice translation breaks down 2 Corinthians 10:3-6:
For though we walk in the world, we do not fight according to this world’s rules of warfare. The weapons of the war we’re fighting are not of this world but are powered by God and effective at tearing down the strongholds erected against His truth. We are demolishing arguments and ideas, every high-and-mighty philosophy that pits itself against the knowledge of the one true God. We are taking prisoners of every thought, every emotion, and subduing them into obedience to the Anointed One. As soon as you choose obedience, we stand ready to punish every act of disobedience.
God’s word is packed with such a punch that when we begin to DECLARE IT and ACT ON IT, we will see Him do something incredible in our lives. We have to put the enemy in his place and take every thought captive to the authority of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 4:19 The Voice (VOICE)
Know this: my God will also fill every need you have according to His glorious riches in Jesus the Anointed, our Liberating King.
I know that God has called me to CGA for this season and while I am here I will receive the necessary training He has to prepare me for the next portion of this journey He is taking me on.
God is ABSOLUTELY faithful and He will never leave you or forsake you.
So be encouraged! Continue trusting that your heavenly Father knows what you need before you ask Him. Ask and you shall receive! Ask with faith the size of a mustard seed and watch as he moves that mountain out of the way.
A gorgeous Georgia sunrise!
