“We were traveling down the mountain and all of a sudden my phone rang.”

This month my team is doing Unsung Heroes. We travel around different parts of Nicaragua in search for churches, organizations or ministries who are going above and beyond the call to reach lost souls for God’s kingdom. They may not be the biggest or may not have as many resources but they are fulfilling the great commission.

Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

We prayed and did research to find these Unsung Heroes. We asked God to direct our steps and lead us to people. God had spoken to our team and told us that He would send the pastors to us. He would direct our steps and place these people before us.

We serve such an INCREDIBLE God. Words cannot describe how good He is.

He is always faithful!

We had traveled to Somoto, Madriz, Nicaragua. We had been in contact with Pastor Carlos, from A Heart To Love Children’s Ministry, who called and told us that he had some friends that he wanted us to meet.

He had invited his friends Pastor Benito Ezekiel Gomez Morales and his wife, to meet us. Pastor Benito and his wife live up in the mountains in San Juan de Rio Coco. Pastor Carlos was telling us that it’s hard for him to contact Pastor Benito because the cell reception is not very good up in the mountains. Pastor Benito said, “We were traveling down the mountain and all of a sudden my phone rang. It was Pastor Carlos and he told me that I needed to come to Somoto and meet you all. He told me that you all were going to bless me. I knew you were coming.”

What does he mean he knew we were coming??

Pastor Benito continued, “Earlier this year, God had spoken to me and told me that He was sending people to help our ministry. So I knew you would come.”

Wow! Talk about faith and trusting God even when months pass and you don’t see any results. Yet, there we were, month 8 of the World Race, sitting before him, giving him the opportunity to host future World Race teams.

Pastor Benito’s vision is to preach the gospel and to expand with churches in various areas. They are building up leaders through leadership classes. They have a bible institute to equip those from within the church to gain theological training. They offer music classes to build up musicians within the church to spread out and pastor churches being established in other areas. They just purchased two lots for future churches to be built on. The land is flat and cleared out, they are just waiting on the Lord’s provision.

In 1983, the Lord called him to minister but in Nicaragua it was a time of war. He had pastored a church for 6 years before moving up to the mountains of San Juan Rio de Coco, where he has pastored for 26 years. They started off with 26 members out of a town of 46 people. Now they have a congregation of 300 members. They have successfully planted 5 independent congregations averaging as much as 100 members per week. The community of believers are the ones who fund the church and as they reach more people for Christ the church is financially supported. People have attended their churches and been set free from demonic possession, depression and healed from tumors.

That is such a testimony of the goodness of God. The town started off with one believer and now it has grown with hundreds of Christ followers.

God is truly using these churches to bring His kingdom to earth.

Would you partner with me and pray for Pastor Benito and the churches they have established?

Pray for MORE of God’s presence to sweep over Nicaragua.

Pray for God’s provision of the materials needed to finish the 2 new church buildings.

Pray that God continues to perform signs and wonders as His people seek His face.

Thank you for partnering with me to pray for the people of Nicaragua.
