I’m going to do something a little different this month… I won’t be calling home. I won’t be emailing home. Over the last 3 or 4 months I realized that I’m more annoyed by the internet than I am grateful for it. For some reason, this felt like the right time to “unplug.”
Several former world racers say that the best months are those when you have to “unplug” from the outside world. It’s a term I despised initially, but the value in it seems clearer now. This is not what I have to or am required to do. This is what I choose.
Don’t get me wrong, I love getting to talk with the best family ever, my amazing girlfriend, and the greatest friends on the planet, but I don’t enjoy the worry of having to communicate every chance I get. Realize it has only been ME who put that pressure on myself and not the people I love. It was my choice to be stressed, and right now, I choose to release it.
This all comes after a month in which I made fewer than 5 calls to the states, so it’s not like I’ve actually spent a ton of time calling. I did stress myself some though. It is a pretty selfish move. It is for me. It is so I relax. It is so I stay present on this race to which the Lord has called me (Acts 20:24). There WILL be many more blogs this month, since it’s the sole way I choose to communicate.
I’ll be reading the book Multiply by Francis Chan if ya wanna join me.
This month will be over before we know it. Don’t miss what He has for YOU this month.
I love you!
He created a beautiful countryside in Bulgaria!
