Our whole squad is living in Sofia, Bulgaria, for a couple of days before teams break off for ministry for the month. After spending a complete month living at the same place doing the same ministry, we are pretty comfy with each other now.
For about two weeks my beard went through several phases. The first phase was full beard on one side and fu manchu & mutton chops on the other side. After a couple of days, that transitioned to the complete fu manchu and mutton chops on both sides. Then solely the mutton chops for a few days including a weekend in Italy. Finally those were removed and the beginnings of a goatee are left. Does this mean I'm growing in confidence or that I haven't had a mirror for a month?
Anyway, similar to my beard changing, our squad has had some serious change as well. Teams have moved around, leaders have changed and are being trained, and all the positive growing pains have begun. I am probably more excited about my change than many others. It is a really humbling experience, and I ask for your devotion in prayer here. For the upcoming months of the race, I have been given the opportunity to lead our squad. Our current squad leaders, Kat and Jeremy, completed a world race of their own last year and they will leave our squad at the end of the month to run wherever Jesus leads. They are so amazing, and I look forward to spending a lot of time with them this month learning how to lead well like them.
The whole squad leadership gig will be pretty cool, but it will take time to learn our roles and responsibilities within our squad of about 40 people. Please pray for all that's coming!
Please pray for my face too… The border agent into Bulgaria had trouble seeing me in my passport picture. She even had me get off the bus to have others inspect me. I must have lost weight…
