(Before we start, this is not a post for argument or theological debate. I believe God still speaks to us in ways that sometimes seem “weird”, even illogical. And I believe this was a personal revelation to encourage me, but sharing it to show you God’s true heart.)
As I am driving down a country road through Toccoa Falls, Georgia, heading to Atlanta, I experienced something for just the second time in my life with Jesus. And I caught the beautifully hurt heart of a father.
During my drive, I reached a point of frustration. The last couple of weeks had been, well, trying, and I just wanted more of Abba’s grace and love in my life. I had prayed for healing for people I loved, and nothing happened. So I prayed a simple prayer, “God, I want more of You in my day to day life. And I will pay the cost to make it happen.”
As my car makes a slight turn around a bendy country road, everything in my sight went blank. Gone. As my eyes came back into focus, I saw a massive gate in the distance. The environment was dark. And loud. Very loud. I looked down, and noticed my feet running forward. The gate was getting closer and closer. The loudness growing. I felt tired, and a little worn out. But energized. Focused.
“Am I dead?” My first thought. Then I heard it.
“and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it.”
Bam. My eyes were back on the road. And left to wonder what in the heck just happened? So, I asked God. And the answer crippled my soul with love.
“I want my Children back.”
This was the hurt voice of a Father desperately in love with His children. So in love that He would put all the punishment of man on Christ, that we may be seen spotless and pure. That He would give us the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead so that we may walk in victory over the forces of evil.
We, as the Church, were never meant to be reactive. We must be the cutting edge of the Kingdom, and moving forward to light our light drown out the darkness.
God is not mad at us. Not seeking to take things from us, but wants to give abundant life to us. He actually delights in us, and His heart breaks when we let insecurity and fear ruin our life. Because He loves us.
That is a beautiful God. That is God. And for Him, I will gladly charge the gates of Hell knowing that against the army of evil, with God I am the majority. We are the victors. And I will see Sons and Daughters understand their worth, and the price paid for them.
This is the place I will minister from. This is where miracles take place.
