I really miss Burque and Elfinnesh and Bosé. I miss hearing them say “I love you so much.” And I miss them asking if I wanted an afternoon cup of coffee.
They taught me so much about joy and selfless serving.
They always were cleaning up after me in the kitchen–telling me that they would wash my dishes for me. Countless times Bosé would school me in chopping onions or garlic. Elfinnesh loved to show off her skills in peeling potatoes quickly.
At the end of each day, they would say goodnight, give me a hug, and say they would see me the next morning.

They were the first to greet me in the mornings, long before any of my squad woke up. They were in the kitchen preparing breakfast while I would be getting some things prepared for lunch.

I am convinced that they were my people.
On the Race, they often say that The Lord will give you one person that will stick with your heart the rest of the Race.
These three ladies were my “people.”
They entered my heart. And they haven’t left, and I don’t think they ever will. These sweet women shared the love of the Father with me so deeply that it impacted me in ways that I have yet to discover.
They were examples to me of living out my identity in Christ. They were quiet, humble women, but they were confident in who they were in Him.
How beautiful to have such marvelous examples of what The Lord was teaching around me for a month.

I spent more time with them than with anyone else that month.
We shared recipes, food, laughter, confusing looks, and love.

I miss Burque, Elfinnesh, and Bosé. I’m so thankful for the time The Lord gave me with them through.
