So, one of the skills that I have that I never thought I would use on the Race is…COOKING! Especially cooking for crowds of people. I love being in the kitchen. I love baking. I love making meals for people. Because, let’s be real. The way to a lot of people’s hearts is through food. It’s a way to socialize, a way to love people. And it’s something I genuinely enjoy.

I prayed at the beginning of the Race for a kitchen. I wanted to be able to cook or bake for my team at least once while I was on the Race. I didn’t know what that would look like, but I asked the Lord to provide a kitchen and an oven while I was on the Race at some point.

I thought He answered that prayer back in Vietnam when I lived in an apartment with a kitchen and an oven. And I was able to bake for my team. And then I was able to help make a Thanksgiving meal that fed over 100 people at the coffee shop we were serving with. It was great.

But God keeps surprising me. This month, He gave me another kitchen, with an oven. What?! I just don’t even believe it! And to make it even better, because of the experience I’ve had with cooking for large crowds of people, I am helping out a lot in the kitchen for the month! It’s been so awesome. I mean, I’m getting to serve my squadmates in a way that the Lord has gifted and equipped me in. AND I get to bake! I’m making banana bread for the whole squad as a surprise for Valentine’s Day. So, I’m pumped about that.

But seriously, the Lord has been too good to me. I love how He chooses to surprise me with little things like this. It’s truly beautiful.
