There’s something about the city lights that fill me with joy and wonder. We drive back home from Gahanga 4 times every week at night, and the land with a thousand hills is just lit up.

I’ve always loved city lights. I guess that has a lot to do with growing up in Albuquerque. Albuquerque sits in the valley of the Sandia mountains. And when you head to the east side of the city and get into the foothills, you can see the entire city. The lights are just beautiful.
I also love night flights and having a window seat. Looking into the vast darkness and then seeing lights in the distance is one of the best things ever.

I don’t know what fills my heart with such joy and wonder at the lights.
Maybe it has to do with the variety of colors.
Or maybe it’s how I can’t believe that so many people are represented by the lights.

But no matter what, the lights are amazingly beautiful.

And they remind me to live with intentionality. To shine my light and love them. Because I’m supposed to be a city on a hilltop.

It’s not every month that we get a view of the lights in the city. So I’m going to soak it up.
