I am happy to announce that I will be starting a new job in January. I will be a Squad Mentor for the World Race. Since I was first introduced to the World Race over 2 years ago, I remember thinking how being a Squad Mentor would be a “dream job” and now the Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to have it!
What is a Squad Mentor? A Squad Mentor is responsible to “recruit, train and equip Squad Leaders and Team Leaders to provide excellent leadership to World Race squads and teams pre and post launch. They also assist and collaborate with World Race Coaches in the process of spiritual formation for World Race Participants and day to day field support to enable and facilitate the squad to move from abandonment to brokenness and dependence.” Basically I have the opportunity to walk alongside Q Squad, a World Race squad, (about 55 people) for their entire eleven month trip to provide love and support for both the participants and their leaders.
What does this mean for me? I will be moving to Gainesville, GA on January 1 and be working in the Adventures in Missions home office. Q Squad will launch in January to begin their World Race trip. Before they launch, they will be coming to Georgia for some additional training before they hit the field. I will be training the squad leaders and team leaders as well as getting to know the squad has a whole before they leave. Weekly I will be speaking with the leadership team via Skype while they are out on the field bringing encouragement and direction. I will also be able to fly out several times during the year to help lead the squad through debriefs.
How can you help? With that being said, I am still a full time missionary and I am still working to raise my support. I need to raise $1350/month. I am currently at $445/month. So I still need to raise $905/month. Any amount helps. To support me you can:
