People always talk about trying to find themselves. They talk about this journey they need to go on to find the answer to this question, “Who am I?” I guess even if we don’t quite word it this way, it’s still something most people are trying to find.

Who am I going to be? Why do I matter? What can I offer to people? Why am I important? But I think the issue here is that we are striving after the wrong questions. The question we should be asking is “Whose are we?” It’s not as complicated as we make it.

Our identity is Christ! We are His! We belong to Him!

But again, being human, we can even mess this part up! Some of us completely discredit ourselves. I have been here, I have done this. I say God is everything and I am nothing. But really? Christ tells us to die to our old self but He doesn’t say to stay dead!

Colossians 3:3-4 says, “For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”

This is great news! These verses aren’t talking about some distant future, its talking about when Christ appears! I don’t know about you, but Christ appears to me every single day! So every single day I appear with Him in glory!

This is who we are! We are standing right next to Him shining in His glory! It can’t get any better than this!

I recently watched The Chronicles of Narnia and Aslan, the King, tells Peter that he was going to reign with him. Peter had a decision to make. He could either look at his weaknesses and his incapability or he could embrace who the King told him he was. He chose the later and because of this, he was victorious in battle.

We have a decision. We can chose to look at our flaws, our insecurities and even our sins and say we arn’t worthy or we can trust in the grace of God and in who He who says we are. I choose the later!

So who am I? I belong to the King of Kings and I am worthy!
