How numb have we become to those three
words…”Jesus loves you?” Ever since we were little we sing
songs about Jesus loving us, we go to church and hear ‘Jesus loves
you’ over and over again. Yeah, it is great, but I think we have
numbed ourselves to the true reality of what that really means. How
simple? Jesus loves you. He does. It’s not just another phrase that
you have heard a thousand and one times. Like really think about His
love for you!
I remember way back in Africa when
Christ’s love became so real to me, and when those three words began
to mean more to me than just a simple statement. We were driving 4
days through Mozambique to get to Malawi. I was jammin’ out to some
music, the dirt streets were packed with people walking home before
it got dark, the sun was going down, the potholes getting worse. I
admired the people we drove by. I thought about their lives, what
they are living for and saw God’s glory shine through them. I had
this great, very likely the simplest yet meaningful revelation ever.
Jesus LOVES them! I teared up, almost as it was a surprise to me. He
loves each one of us always, no matter what we have or have not done,
no matter if we know Him or not. He loves us each 100% all the time,
no matter what. It’s an unfathomable, unconditional love!

His love is not something we have to
work for or earn. God’s nature is LOVE. God is LOVE. We love Him
because He first loved us. This is so difficult for us to grasp,
because in our society in our culture love is something that often
comes and goes based on behavior and circumstances. But His LOVE
never ever ever changes!

Once we come to the realization of, not
only His love for us, but also of His love for others it changes us.
It redefines our hearts, and ultimately transforms our lives.
Although it is impossible for us to understand His love for us, and
even more impossible for us to love perfectly it is still something
we must strive for. How can we love God and then not love others? It
doesn’t really work like that.

My heart has changed, I am changed
because of His love. Even when I just pass someone on the street
smiling at them and saying hello, I feel the love of Christ inside of
me. There have been many times this year that I have met people and
talked with them for just a few short minutes and have walked away
with an overwhelming sense of love for them.

Bottom line is CHRIST’S LOVE changes
people!! Each and everyday we desire to experience this love and the
greatest thing we can do to share that is to SIMPLY LOVE and LOVE
FREELY. Also everyday we have the opportunity to share His love for us by loving others. KINGDOM comes THROUGH LOVE. On earth as it is in Heaven…
LOVE really does make the world go round. For if we do not love, we
have nothing.
Yes, Love is not always the easiest
thing to choose when we disagree with others, but just as Christ’s
nature is LOVE, Our NATURE is to love. And right here in this moment,
because of Christ’s love for me, my heart is bleeding love for each
person I meet here in Vietnam, for each person I have met on this crazy journey and for the people I have yet to meet in this
world

“And I pray that you and
all God’s holy people will have the power to understand the Greatness
of Christ’s love-how wide and how long and how high and how deep
that love is. Christ’s love is greater than anyone can ever know but
I pray that you will be able to know that love…”
