I absolutely love music. I love how it can change your mood. I love how it can understand your life. I love how it can turn you into an awesome dancer (even when you’re not really).  I love how it can make your bad day better. I love everything about it. I especially love when Jesus speaks to me through it.

Jay-Z probably wasn’t going for Jesus-talk when he wrote “Real as it Gets”. But when I hear him saying “Follow in my footsteps you can’t fail”, Christ is who I hear- rapping straight to my heart, reminding me that as long as I am seeking him, as long as I am listening for him and following his direction, I absolutely cannot fail.

I hear him more often than not when I am driving down the road, jamming out with my windows down. (Even when it is 45 degrees and I have the heater on full blast.)

Another place I have been hearing him a lot lately is in the Aussie Keith Urban voice.

“You could be a blackbird on a country street,
hiding from the world with a broken wing,
but you better believe you’re gonna fly with me.”

Haven’t we all been there? I know I have. Afraid to step out of the comfort zone, afraid to try something new, afraid to be successful, afraid to do what we have been called to do. Well, I took a baby step towards healing, and Christ constantly reminds me when I hear this that I am going to FLY on the World Race. We sing to Him all the time. He sings, too.

“You better believe you’re gonna fly with me.”
