Philippians 4:8 encourages us to dwell on “whatever is lovely”. Sometimes this is so difficult to do when I would rather dwell on my to-do list, stressors, or worries about the future. To fight this, I decided to time myself for 10 minutes and compile a list of the things I’m grateful for- the lovely things. Here’s what I got:
Things I’m grateful for
Hazelnut coffee
David Henry Thoreau
The friends I made in Swaziland
My job as a desk worker in Horizon
The color yellow
Chocolate
God’s command that we “Be Still”
Walt Whitman
Running
My dog Peyton
My bestie Anna (Girl!)
Wisconsin weather over 70 degrees
Coloring books
Water that I can get just from turning on the tap
The ability to spend time watching ABC World News and Jeopardy with the family every time I go home

Swimming
My job at Taylor Hall
My students and the weird things that they say
The ability to spend time alone
