As I begin the process of fundraising, I find myself overwhelmed and sometimes discouraged. My goal of approximately $20,000 ($16,961 for the trip + the cost of gear and travel to Atlanta and my launch site) is an amount that I can hardly fathom. Even telling friends and family how much I need to raise sometimes causes me to doubt that I’ll ever reach my end goal.
In the midst of feeling overwhelmed, I came across this article about gratitude and what it means to be truly grateful. In one section, the author says that it is in our difficult situations that we can actually rely upon God to be a comforter and take control over situations that seem impossible for us to fix. We can be grateful that we can put our trust in Someone who has complete ownership over frustrating and overwhelming circumstances. Even if we fail to give thanks, we still have a God who will never leave us.
As I continue fundraising I hope to remain grateful no matter the circumstance. Preparing has caused emotional and financial stress, but I am grateful for the people and situations that God has placed in my life. Even when the plans I make for my trip change and fall flat, there is so much to be grateful for in this season of my life.
