Mondays are ou
r official day of rest this month. The first Monday we spent relaxing, but this past Monday our team leaders decided to mix it up with a surprise trip to an internet café in Ungheni with the option to take advantage of a sauna place down the road. Since traditional driving rules don’t seem to apply here, all 20 of us crammed into Vitali’s van and away we went!
As wonderful a
s it was to get caught up online, by lunchtime I was over it and ready for some adventure. Just a handful of us decided to check out the sauna, completely clueless as to what to expect.
From the moment we arrived, I knew we were in for a treat. This picture is my teammate, Emily, and I outside. We walked in and hung out for a while as we waited for the sauna to heat up. It felt like a set from an old movie by the coloring and lighting – or lack t
hereof – but that was just the beginning. The bar looked pretty sweet, and judging from the pole off to the side I assume this place might draw some additional business after hours.
Finally the s
auna was ready and we got the grand tour before going in. There was a small swimming pool (although not the kind that makes you want to jump in), massage rooms, and finally the sauna! This was easily the least sketchy room in the entire establishment, and totally what we needed.
Afterwards we all hit the showers, super jacked for water pressure and heat. I hadn’t felt that clean in weeks. Back in Cornesti we have been taking cold bucket baths.
So there you have it. First time at a sketchy-sauna-place-thingie: check. All in all it was a much needed way to shake up our day off and do something different. I hope this is the first of many “first times” as we continue to entertain ourselves around the world.
