Welcome to Nicaragua!!!! It's December 17th (day 71 of WR… but who's counting?) and a brisk 94 degrees out. That's right folks, for Christmas this girl is getting a tan. Score!!!

I came into this month praying that I would feel a passion for this ministry and their vision, and 8 days into my Nicaraguan journey God has already answered my prayer.

My love for Nicaragua began my very first night when I met Esmirna. I went to Esmirna's house becaue I had been told that she was about to graduate high school and really wanted her hair colored. I had been dying to color some hair so it was basically a match made in heaven. We played hair, hung out and I got to meet some of her friends and family. When the girls found out I had a hair straightner, they freaked and of course wanted to try it. The next night I went back again and had a marathon straightening party with a few of them. After about 5 hours of quality hair time our friendship was official.

Jumping right in those first few nights really made me feel instantly connected here. Getting to know our ministry contacts at Vision Nicaragua has only increased that conncection. This ministry is so amazing!!! They have spent over 12 years ministering to the people in this area and finding ways to meet their specefic needs. I could write an entire blog on all of their amazing projects and ministries (and i still might), but for now i'll just encourage you to check out thier website —> www.visionnicaragua.org

Since being here we have been able to be part of tons of cool things in the community. We've been to 2 graduation ceremonies, a baptism, lots of villages and tomorrow we're hosting a soccer tournament! Participating in so many community activities has really given us the chance to get to know many of the amazing people that live here. Next week we get the chance to get a little dirty and build a house! I'm sure my excellent hammer skills will come in handy. Ok, I have zero hammer skills but I will practice on my teammates before we officially begin the house.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support! Here are some pics and a quick video from the past week!
