Hi!! My name is Becca. This is just a little (ok, a lot. oops) info about my life leading up to going on the World Race.
So what had happened was…
I grew up in a one stoplight town in Florida that most people can’t pronounce – Umatilla. Fun to say, huh? I love the simplicity I grew up with – going to the pasture with my Grandaddy, Sunday lunches at the QD and knowing the names of everyone you see at the grocery store. I currently live in Los Angeles, and I legitimately freaked out the first time I saw someone I knew at the store. And it’s only happened once.

My family consists of my Mom – the most helpful and caring person you’ll ever meet, Dad – ridiculously funny and annoyingly wise, and Liz – my sister who I don’t really like… just kidding! I love her to pieces. She’s the coolest 17 year old in the world and fairly sure I would die without her. Dramatic, but possibly true.

Umatilla was my world until going to college in South Florida at Palm Beach Atlantic University. I lovelove South Florida. It’s sunny, gorgeous and school was less than a mile from the beach. Hard life, right? I went into school pursuing a degree in Journalism, but when I found out I could basically learn about Jesus full time I quickly became a Christian Leadership major. At PBA I was blessed by my first real experience of community – I shared life with 7 girls who I will forever be thankful for. We did all the ridiculous things college girls do, but we also got to pray for one another, be there in the hard times and love each other through everything. It was these relationships that made college such an amazing time in life.

My last semester at PBA I applied for an internship in California with TOMS Shoes. I interviewed, got the job, and 10 days later moved to the amazing city of Los Angeles. It wasn’t quite as glamorous as I imagined, living in a 3 bedroom condo with 15 people. But what it lacked in glamour was made up in fun. I learned quick that in LA you do whatever you have to do to get by, so over the past 3.5 years i’ve been an intern, a PA, a retail wizard extraordinaire, an out of work extra, a babysitter… you name it, i’ve at least thought about doing it. Most recently I decided to finally fulfill my dream of going to hair school, so I spent the last year attending Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy. It will go down in history as the craziest year of my life, but I’m so glad I had the opportunity to do it.

I guess my current title in life is ‘freelance hairstylist’, but mostly i’m just figuring out what the next phase of life looks like and how I can best be used by God in my time between now and leaving for the World Race. The hardest part about going on WR is leaving LA. This city has been so good to me. I’m leaving with some of the best friends in the world and plenty of amazing memories to carry me through this season of change. I’m so excited for this adventure to begin!!! Thank you so much for your interest in this ministry and my team – your prayers and support are what will help us make it through!

Some things you should know:
I’ve been told I overuse the word ‘love,’ but i really think there’s no such thing as loving too much.
I’m obsessed with Trident passionberry twist gum. The yellow pack.
Hanson is my all time favorite band. You think i’m kidding, but I saw them in concert 2 weeks ago. Jealous?
I love my sister. A lot. Every time I leave her i’m counting down until I see her again.
I have a tendency to obsess over ridiculous things. Like Hannah Montana and Justin Beiber. Oh, and Disney! I loooooove Disney.
I love Auburn football and Orlando Magic basketball. 40% for the sport and 60% because I just love cheering for them.
My fav color is sunshine yellow.
