Tonight is it. My last night in California. My last night in my bed, with my family, and my air conditioner.
Tomorrow I begin a new chapter in life. I will get up before the sun, carry my life in my backpack, take a flight across the country, and meet up with my fellow racers who for the next year will be my family.
I don’t think the reality of my decision has hit me just yet. I have had a few days this week with streams of tears, and words of frustration as I sat in a room of my things knowing most of it would not be ‘mine’ for the next year. Having ten shirts laid on the ground around me, staring, and feeling as if they were staring right back at me saying, ‘Pick me, pick me!’ or ‘What ya gonna do, huh?’.
So after three days of trials and eliminations, my life is very, very, very simple compared to my options of norm. For the next year, this is my life….
one pair of jeans. one pair of cargo pants. one pair of capris. one pair of zipper shorts/pants. one pair of bermuda shorts. one floor length skirt. one knee length skirt. five tshirts. two church tops. one pair of leggings. one pair of shower flops. one pair of toms. one pair of tevas. one pair of new balances. six pairs of socks. ten pairs of undies. one pair of jammie shorts. one pair of jammie pants. rain jacket and pants. one fleece vest. one hoodie. two person tent. sleeping bag. sleeping mat. sleeping bag liner. pillow. mosquito net.
Along with simple toiletries, this is all I will have. What I can carry on my back is all I get, and after a month or so, I will realize it is all I need.
God is going to do amazing things over the next year with me and the eighty seven others I will be walking life with as we travle the globe as His hands and feet. Please continue to pray for us all during this time as we prepare to launch into The World Race, August 2009.
Thank you to those of you who have financially supported me, as well as in prayer. It has been AMAZING.
Thank you to those of you who were able to come to my going away parties! It was amazing to see you all!
Thank you to those of you that continue to follow my journey, and support me as I follow the call God has put on my life.
I love you.
